1. BREWING INSTRUCTIONS: we recommend 1 1/2 TBS of coffee per 6 oz. water

2. BUILD-A-BOX SUBSCRIPTION CUSTOMER PORTAL:  sign into your main account (or create one) to access your subscriptions.  You must use SAME email account for both subscription and main account for them to link. 

3. SHIPPING POLICY:   Free shipping on all orders with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii which have a $3 surcharge. Most coffees ship USPS.  Larger parcels may ship UPS.

4. RETURNS-CUSTOMER ERROR: We do not accept returns or make exchanges for your error in choosing whole bean or ground incorrectly. Our website has been set up to help you avoid that error.

5. RETURNS-LUCY JO'S ERROR: If we make a mistake with your order we will fix our mistake promptly. We strive to do everything right here at Lucy Jo's Coffee. However, we are a human and do make the occasional mistake. We are a small family business and we all wear more than one hat. We like to remind you that you get more with sugar than salt. Please do not yell at us in ALL CAPS. It really puts a damper on our day. We definitely did not intend to upset you or disappoint you with our error and we will strive to fix it ASAP.

6. WHAT MAKES A COFFEE LOW ACID? The acidity of the coffee is determined by the soil type and the elevation in which the coffee is grown. Generally speaking, the higher in elevation the coffee is grown the more acidic the coffee is. An acidic coffee flavor might be described as citrusy and a lower acidity flavor might be described as earthy.  We do not do any additional processing to lower the acidity.  We only roast naturally low acid coffees for our low acid coffee selection. 

7. WHAT IS THE PH OF YOUR MELLOW BELLY ORIGINAL LOW ACID COFFEE? The pH of our Mellow Belly Original is approximately 5.6 pH. A typical cup of coffee has a pH of 4.5 to 5. Please keep in mind that the pH of your water affects the pH of the coffee.  Also keep in mind, pH only tests one aspect of the flavor.  A coffee can have a very smooth flavor and not be low acid.

9. IS LOW ACID COFFEE ALSO LOW CAFFEINE? No.

  • The caffeine content is the same as any other regular coffee.
  • We do not test the caffeine content of the coffee.
  • Our decaf coffee is below the level  allowed by the FDA for decaffeinated water-processed coffee. Water-processed decaf, as opposed to chemically processed decaf, will have trace amounts of caffeine. Organic coffee cannot be 100% caffeine free due to the non chemical decaffeination process.

10. IS THE DECAF COFFEE WATER-PROCESSED? Yes. Our decaf will either be Swiss Water-Processed or Mexican Water-Processed depending on the facility that decaffeinates our organic decaf. No chemicals are used in the decaffeination process.

11. HOW MANY CALORIES ARE IN A CUP OF COFFEE? According to the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture an 8 oz. cup of black coffee has 2 calories. A survey of other sources reveal some slight variation: Figures range from 2 to 12 calories per cup.

12. ARE THERE ANY OTHER INGREDIENTS IN OUR COFFEE? short answer, no. We use only certified 100% Organic Arabica coffee beans.

13. IS OUR COFFEE GLUTEN FREE? Coffee is naturally gluten free.  We do not add any gluten to the process or packaging.

14. DO WE TEST FOR MOLD? quick answer, no. Below is the explanation why we do not test for mold.  

  • We understand that there is a concern about mold (mycotoxins) in coffee.
  • The coffee we purchase meets all FDA and USDA Organic regulations. The FDA will not allow the importation of coffee that is above FDA safety guidelines for mycotoxins.
  •  Our coffee is high grade and Certified Organic and must meet these requirements as well.
  • In addition, the high temperatures and air circulation of the roasting process adds an additional level of safety.
  • Finally we package our coffee in sealed one-way degassing valves to allow the coffee to continue to off-gas but not allow outside air to get in to the bag.

15. HOW DO I CHANGE OR CANCEL MY BUILD A BOX SUBSCRIPTION?

  • You can access your customer portal with the link from your email of upcoming order. You can request a link on our CHAT BUTTON.
  • You can ask for assistance on the CHAT BUTTON as well.  Please leave name on subscription account and correct email. 

16. HOW DO I CANCEL A SUBSCRIPTION ON AMAZON? all Amazon subscription cancellations must be done on your Amazon account. We cannot access your account and make those changes for you.. But below you will find instructions on how to end your subscription.

  1. Go to your Amazon home page
  2. click on the 3 horizontal bars icon
  3. click on account
  4. find ORDERS heading-click on SUBSCRIBE and SAVE
  5. Click on SUBSCRIPTIONS
  6. find the product. Tap image and then click CANCEL in options.
  7. HINT: if you are doing this on a phone you may need to scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the CANCEL button.
